- Israel launches attacks in Gaza
When is this going to end? Hamas attacking Israel and Israil attacking back again and again! Aren't these people affected by the economic recession that seems to be affecting the rest of the world? Aren't they worried about their jobs? Maybe not, they can always find a job in the army or whatever the fighting force is called by Hamas.
- Former President of India R. Venkataraman passed away
He is one of the few politician from the South India who played an active role in the central government. Very few politician from the south make it to the central government and play key roles - hope this changes with time.
Israel attacks - Your have an interesting take linking economic recession and terrorism. There is an interesting history lesson when looking at the relationship between economic conditions and "war". The American economy expanded at an unprecedented (and unduplicated) rate between 1941 and 1945. The gross national product of the U.S., as measured in constant dollars, grew from $88.6 billion in 1939 — while the country was still suffering from the depression — to $135 billion in 1944. I would hate to say this, but the war probably played as much as a role in getting us out of the great depression as say the Marshall plan.

ReplyDelete- Chitambaram - Minister of Home Affairs
- T R Balu - Minister of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways.
- Vayalar Ravi - Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.
- Manishankar Iyer - Minister of Panchayati Raj and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region.
- A Raja - Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
- Dr. Ramdoss - Minister of Health & Family Welfare.
Add to that a couple of Ministers of state, I would say that there is quite a sizeable strength of tamilians; and they seem to be making the headlines too!
Timothy Geithner - Did you know he missed paying his social security taxes :) But that apart, he seemed to be pretty impressive in his confirmation hearings. Ofcourse, I am not sure about his comments on "China's currency manipulation". Unless he is more than just rhetoric + he has the tenacity to do something about it, he would get fried by making such comments.
